Vetter joins United Nations Global Compact Network
Vetter (Ravensbury, Germany), the aseptic filling and packaging CDMO has signed up to the UN Global Compact Network.
They join 308 other biopharmaceutical companies who are also a part of the agreement to work towards more sustainable business practices. Outside of the biopharmaceutical field, over 15,000 companies and 3,000 not-for-profit organisations, from 160 countries, are included in the network.
The Network is defined by ten principles, which Vetter will now have to follow as part of it’s corporate actions. The main focus of the principles is upholding human and employee rights, engaging tactics to prevent corruption, and to limit global warming.
Henryk Badack, Senior Vice President Technical Service and Internal Project Management at Vetter explained:
"We have already been pursuing a very ambitious sustainability strategy for years. By committing to the goals of the UN Global Compact, we are reaching the next level and are further expanding our initiatives to a global level."
As a collaborative network, Vetter will be able to join forces with the other companies within the agreement to work towards the same goals. The initiative means that these companies and organisations can share knowledge, ideas, and resources in the hope of upgrading processes and inciting change across the industry. Vetter will be held accountable to the goals of the compact network through a written annual report that will be open to the public, which doubles as evidence of the project and a progress report to inform the wider network.
"As a family-owned business in the healthcare sector, we bear great responsibility,” stated Badack. “And we believe in the power of cooperation. The UN Global Compact combines these two approaches very well and is also a strong commitment to shared values and goals across business sectors and national borders."
Vetter had already in place a set of it’s own sustainability values and targets, the combination will serve to better support their customers in ensuring a more sustainable supply chain and more ESG-friendly operations.
